Audience

The Usability Testing certification is aimed at anyone involved in software testing who wishes to broaden their knowledge of usability testing or anyone who wishes to start a specialist career in usability testing. The qualification is also aimed at anyone involved in usability engineering who wishes to understand usability testing.
To gain this certification, candidates must hold the Certified Tester Foundation Level certificate.

 

Content

  • Chapter 1: Basic Concepts (200 minutes)
  • Chapter 2:Risks in Usability, User Experience and Accessibility (80 minutes)
  • Chapter 3:Usability and Accessibility Standards(105 minutes) 
  • Chapter 4:Usability Reviews (90 minutes) 
  • Chapter 5:Usability Testing (270 minutes) 
  • Chapter 6:User Surveys (30 minutes) 
  • Chapter 7:Selecting Appropriate Methods(40 minutes) 
  • Chapter 8:Summary of Roles and Responsibilities (30 minutes) 

 

Business Outcomes

The Business Outcomes expected of a candidate who has achieved the Certified Tester Usability Testing certification are as follows:

  • Understand the basic concepts of usability and usability testing.
  • Identify and classify the severity of usability risks and potential accessibility violations in a given product at any stage of a development cycle.
  • Cite relevant standards for usability, user experience, and accessibility and verify their implementation in a given product.
  • Set up procedures so that stated usability, user experience and accessibility goals may be verified in practice for a given product.
  • Design and monitor the implementation of a test plan for achieving stated usability, user experience and accessibility goals.
  • Explain the rationale, process and results of usability, user experience and accessibility evaluations to non-specialist stakeholders.

 

Exam Mode

  • The exam is comprised of 40 multiple choice questions.
  • Total score: 60 points.Pass mark grade of 65% to be completed.
  • 60 minutes test time. Participants that take the exam not in their spoken language, will receive additional 25% time, and will have 15 minutes more, or a total of 75 min.
