Audience

The Automotive Software Tester qualification is aimed at anyone involved in software testing in the automotive domain. This includes roles such as testers, test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, test managers, user acceptance testers, and software developers. The Automotive Software Tester qualification is also appropriate for anyone who strives for a basic understanding of automotive software testing, such as project managers, safety managers, quality managers, software development managers, business analysts, IT directors and management consultants.

     

    Content

    The Certified Tester Automotive Software Tester Certificate exam will be based on this syllabus. Answers to exam questions may require the use of material based on more than one section of this syllabus. All sections of the syllabus are examinable, except for the Introduction, the Appendices, and sections marked as informative only. The exam questions will confirm knowledge of keywords and learning objectives at all K-levels. Standards and books are included as references, but their content is not examinable, beyond what is summarized in the syllabus itself from such standards and books.

    • Chapter 1: Introduction to Automotive Software Testing (30minutes)
    • Chapter 2: Standards for the Testing of Electric/Electronic (E/E) Systems (300minutes)
    • Chapter 3: Testing in a Virtual Environment (160minutes)
    • Chapter 4: Static Testing and Dynamic Testing (230minutes)

     

    Business Outcomes

    The Business Outcomes expected of a candidate who has achieved the Certified Tester Automotive Software Tester certification are as follows:

    • Collaborate effectively in a test team. (“collaborate”)
    • Adapt the test techniques known from the ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation level (CTFL®) to the specific project requirements. (“adapt”)
    • Consider the basic requirements of the relevant standards (i.e., Automotive SPICE® and ISO 26262) for the selection of suitable test techniques. (“select”) 
    • Support the test team in the risk-based planning of the test activities and apply known elements of structuring and prioritization. (“support & apply”) 
    • Apply the virtual test environments (i.e., MiL, SiL, and HiL) in test environments. (“apply”)

     

    Exam Mode

    Participate in specialist field - Automotive Software Tester certification, candidates must hold the ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level certificate.

    • The exam is comprised of 40 multiple-choice questions. Each question scores exactly one point. Exam takers will need 26 points in order to pass the Exam.
    • Exam Length (mins):60 minutes. If the candidates’ native language is not the Exam set language, the candidate is allowed an additional 25% time.
